I am so happy and grateful now that I take my coaching everywhere I go. I am a coach and teacher to the core of myself… and in my heart.
My story today is about a student (client) of mine who happens to be 14 years old. He has a Vision to be a mechanic just like his dad. I have known him for 3 years since 6th grade and have watched him grow into a responsible young man.
His dad is gone until November. It has been 5 months since they have seen each other as his father is working a construction job out of state and sends money home.
Nelson’s dream is expanding….. he is taking care of the family being the oldest male at home. AND his Vision now includes “when my Dad sees me, he will be impressed at how strong I am.” So I asked him “what is one thing you can do each day toward that dream”. He works out after school and is getting those muscles stronger and stronger….. not in a gym but in the garage after taking care of his younger brothers and sisters.
But so much more important is that he has the faith in a Father that sees “only good” and loves him unconditionally.
And as a teacher and coach, I GET to ask him the “bigger questions” not only to be that mechanic but a beautiful, responsible young man.
I love my job when I remember to look for the miracles that are happening all around me.
I feel so blessed every day!!
