“The perversity of The Universe tends towards a maximum. The Universe is hostile.”
When you read that quote, how do you feel? Does it feel true to you?
Albert Einstein once said that “The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.”
As a Life Coach, you must always be aware of the beliefs you hold about the nature of The Universe. Do you believe that The Universe and the higher powers therein have your best interests in mind? Do you believe that, as long as you do your part, the answers, people and circumstances you need will come?
Or do you feel you must struggle to hold your own in a world that wants to take everything away from you? Do you fear that if you fail to appease something or someone, you will lose something you love, or become unable to get something you desire?
Sometimes, when bad things keep happening for no apparent reason, it’s easy to feel that The Universe is a hostile place, and that you’re constantly swimming against a current that wants to drown you. But is that really the case? And if it isn’t, how can you shift your thinking so that the world around you becomes your ally instead of your enemy?
1. Everything is a result
It may be difficult to accept, but nearly everything that happens to you is a result of your habits or beliefs. No, you don’t control the weather; but the way people treat you, and the circumstances that keep repeating themselves in your life, are more strongly influenced by your mindset than you think.
If you’re angry at me for saying this, go ahead and be angry. Take a moment to express how you feel silently or out loud. But once you’re done, please think about it: who or what have you allowed into your life, that you knew wasn’t good for you? When have you had the opportunity to do something that makes you happy, but you did something that you don’t enjoy instead?
Have you made decisions based on what you ‘should’ do, rather than what you knew was best for you?
2. Everything is a lesson
If something in you is working against you, The Universe WILL bring it to your attention. Not to punish you, but to give you the awareness and incentive you need to heal.
If you have a belief that you’re unworthy of love… you’ll attract bad partners, or none at all. Not because you deserve loneliness and painful relationships, but because your beliefs are magnetizing those things to you, and The Universe is trying to make you aware of that.
And when you begin to grow and change and move past those old limitations, more challenges will come at you – partly because your subconscious mind is trying to protect the status quo, to keep the reality it’s grown to know continuing, and partly to give you an opportunity to practice the new knowledge and habits you’ve acquired.
The Universe doesn’t want to hurt you. It wants to help you grow.
3. Nothing is wasted
Everything ‘bad’ that happens to you gives you a chance to learn and grow. And it gives you the insight, compassion and ability to help other people who have been hurt the way you were.
The Universe is what you treat it as. Is it your enemy, whose lessons and experiences you resist and try to control? Or is it your teacher, relentless but loving, giving you everything you need to become your best and highest self?
