When you think about the best way to get exposure and influence as a Life Coach, what image comes to mind?

Do you imagine a big room full of people, with a speaker standing on stage?

GuruDo you envision a reality TV show, hosted by a wise and witty guru who comes up with instant answers in front of a camera?

Do you think about a column in a paper, to which everyone writes to get solutions to their problems?

Close your eyes, and just let a picture enter your mind. Then, once you’ve got it, let me ask you: whatever your image is, does it make you think you could never be a coach, because it requires too much effort to get on TV or a stage, too much preexisting influence in order to get started, or too much stage fright?

The truth is, while public speaking – and especially speaking on other peoples’ stages – is a great way to build your Life Coaching business, it’s far from the only way.

Here are five other ways for a Life Coach to get clients and recognition:

1. Online Marketing

Articles, your website, videos, webinars, social media, coaching directories… these are all resources you can use to catch peoples’ attention while they’re surfing the web.

Make sure you’re clear about what you do, who you serve, what problems you solve and what benefits you create. Give your readers a good taste of your expertise, and make sure they have a way to get in touch with you if they decide they want to sign up as a client.

2. Networking Groups

Is there a business and/or coaching group in your area? Where either your potential clients, or people who know or serve your potential clients, might gather?

Becoming a regular member in one of these groups is a way to put yourself at the top of peoples’ minds, so when they or somebody they know needs your services, they immediately know who to call.

3. Meetup Groups

Similar to networking groups, but often a lot less formal, Meetup.com is an online service that helps people with similar interests to get together. Creating an account and joining groups are both free; the only people who pay are those who create and lead groups. See if there’s a gathering in your area that might contain potential clients, affiliates or joint venture partners.

4. Through Friends and Family

If you choose to become a Life Coach, make sure the people around you know about it. You never know who might be in touch with a person who needs you desperately.

Tell them you’re taking on new clients, and see if they know anyone who could use your services. Offer them a 30-minute free consultation, to see if you and this potential client are a good fit.

5. Guest Speaking on Webinars and Telesummits

Check the internet for upcoming webinars, teleseminars and telesummits that cater to your audience, and approach the host to see if they’d be interested in having you as a guest. Start the dialogue from a position of service – you’re here to offer value to their customers first, and to get exposure for yourself second.

There you have it: 5 places where a Life Coach can find eager, willing clients, even if you’re new in the industry. But obviously, this is only one piece of the puzzle.

What else does a Life Coach need?

In order to turn people into actual paying clients, you need to know what to say to them. You need to be able to explain what you do in such a way that gets them excited about enrolling with you.

You also need to know how to serve these clients using methods that get them great results without eating up all of your time.

If these are areas where you need some guidance, or if you already have some knowledge in this field, but you want to benefit from the expertise of a person who’s built a multi-million-dollar business out of being a Life Coach, I’d love it if you’d fill out the form to the right. When you do, my team will get in touch with you, and together you’ll explore whether I’m the right fit to help you to not only find potential clients, but to enroll them in your coaching, and then to serve them in the best way possible.
