Many people believe that society and circumstances conspire to force poor people to stay poor. The rich have opportunities that the impoverished do not, they enjoy better discounts, it takes money to make money… the list of reasons why the poor are disadvantaged seems endless.
But the truth is, creating wealth does not depend on opportunity and luck. You don’t need to have money in order to make money, and many people become rich without the benefit of wealthy parents to guide and fund their lifestyle.
Today, I’ll reveal three of the REAL reasons why poor people stay poor, and how to break free of those traps and create abundance.
1. Poor people think in terms of lack and struggle.
When I speak to someone who’s struggling with money, I pay attention to the questions they tend to ask.
Usually, they ask things like, “How can I reach the end of the month and pay all my bills?”
This question isn’t on the frequency of abundance. It’s on the frequency of struggle – they’re struggling to have enough money to reach the end of the month.
The universe will give you things that are on the same frequency as your thinking. So instead of asking how you can scrape by with very little money, decide exactly how much money you WANT to have each month, and ask how you can manifest that.
2. Poor people blame others instead of taking responsibility for their lives.
Many people blame the government for its taxes, the economy for driving away customers, or the rich for having too much money and leaving too little for everyone else.
Meanwhile, other people who live in the exact same circumstances find a way to thrive.
More millionaires were made during the Great Depression than at any other time in history. EVERY circumstance contains opportunity.
So instead of believing that your circumstances will make it hard to build wealth, look for the opportunities that lay inside those circumstances. And, more importantly, cultivate a mindset that says you make money easily, so your subconscious moves into agreement with your goals.
3. Poor people see only the opportunities presented to them.
I once saw someone using a smartphone as an example of why poor people stay poor. There were two options for buying the phone. One was to pay the entire price up front, and the other was to pay a monthly fee.
Added together, the price of the monthly fee was far higher than the price of paying up front, so the person was claiming that the poor were forced to pay more than the rich.
What they didn’t recognize was that there were other options.
A person could save for a few months and then buy the phone for its one-pay price. They could also request loans from friends and family in order to get the discount, or they could seek opportunities to make more money instead of measuring their potential by their current income.
If you only look at the options that are clearly presented to you, you will always be limited by other peoples’ decisions.
So instead, ask yourself what option YOU want, and make your plans accordingly. For example, if you want a beautiful house at a certain price, don’t give up when the market looks too expensive. Instead, decide on the house you want, and then take the next logical step toward obtaining it.
