Career switch. A phrase that brings many people both trepidation and hope.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to begin a career you truly enjoy, and spend the rest of your life doing what you love?

CoachAndFamilyBut at the same time, leaving your job to become a Life Coach can be frightening. Switching careers, especially if you’re new line of work is a fledgling business, involves a period of transition and a great deal of change.

What if your new lifestyle is worse than your old one? What if your coaching leaves you less time for your family? And what if you leave your old line of work behind, and find out that your new one can’t support you and the people who count on you?

Today, I’m going to explore some of the ways in which becoming a Life Coach can affect your family for better or worse, depending on how you handle the change:

1. They’ll learn from your courage and faith

Most people wait to pursue their dreams until the circumstances are perfect.

In other words, they wait forever. And their children learn from that.

Your way of being, and the actions you let your children see, speak to them more powerfully than any words you can say. If you want them to pursue their dreams, it’s important to lead by example.

Instead of waiting for the right circumstances to happen, Life Coaches create those circumstances for themselves. As a Coach, you would show your family that their dreams are worth taking a chance on, and that their circumstances don’t have to rule their lives.

That doesn’t mean you have to put your family at financial risk in order to become a coach. That would probably be out of alignment with your values, and your dream and your values should never conflict.

One of the great things about Life Coaching is, you don’t have to give up your existing career and income stream in order to get started. A good business model enables you to earn additional money without having to give up your current career, so you can maintain your financial security while starting your business on the side.

The transition requires work, focus and passion, but many people have done it successfully, and I have faith that you can, too.

2. You’ll have more time with your family – or less, depending on how you do things

Will you insist on doing everything yourself? Or will you get help?

Many people try to be the Lone Ranger, creating all of their programs and marketing systems from scratch, and learning everything by trial and error. This causes them to spend years making less money, helping fewer people, and working longer hours than they need to.

The Life Coaches who get the biggest, fastest results are the ones who are willing to follow a trail that’s already been blazed, shortening their learning curve and, reducing the time it takes for them to create a thriving business.

They also use these two vital time-saving methods:

1. They delegate work they don’t specialize in. Whether it’s unskilled work they could outsource at a low cost, or highly skilled work in an area outside their field of expertise, ALL successful people get help. This lets them spend less time spinning their wheels on busy work, and more time moving the financial needle doing what they love.

2. Use a pre-made coaching program instead of making one from scratch. One of the core elements in my Life Coach certification process is that I give my students a proven program they can use to help their clients, so they don’t have to waste months creating one from the ground up. This frees you up to start helping people right away, and to spend more time with your family.

3. You’ll have more income… or less. Again, it depends on you

In the corporate world, your career is often influenced by other people’s decisions regarding whether or not to promote you, to retire or quit, or to keep all their current employees. Your income is limited by the number of hours you trade for dollars, and you can easily become stuck beneath a glass ceiling.

But as a Life Coach, you’re free from those limitations. Your success is governed only by the amount of focus, energy and mastery you choose to put toward it, so your income can skyrocket to a whole new level.

Your focus and energy is up to you and I can help you gain the mastery you need.

This is important, because one of the biggest obstacles new Life Coaches encounter is that they’re good at helping clients, but they aren’t sure how to run the business side of their practice. They don’t know how to attract and help all the clients they want, while having time for their families and themselves.

That’s why I founded the Life Mastery Institute.

I want to help you build your thriving coaching practice the right way, from the start, so you don’t have to waste your precious time, energy, and money struggling to get your business off the ground.

I’ve combined my own wisdom and experience with the help of world-class experts in every area you’ll need to master, and together, we’ve created a proven system that you can use to become a thriving Life Coach.
