Most of us want our family and friends to respect our decisions and to be supportive of us.
Not everybody has that kind of a support network in place. And when we choose to pursue our dreams, especially when it comes to career choices, we often find out that those who love us the most, can still be unsupportive. We hear things like…
“Play it safe.”
“Where are the benefits?”
“Don’t get your hopes up.”
“Get a good job, stay as long as possible, and work hard until you retire.”
But does that kind of lifestyle work for you?
If you love your job, or you’ve got another career that holds your passion in a way that Life Coaching never could, then by all means, continue to do what gives you joy. But read on, because the same is true for any new career or business path.
If you do long to become a Life Coach, and your family’s implied, expressed or imagined disapproval is holding you back, keep reading, because I’m about to help you to break free of that strangle-hold.
It’s your life, not theirs. And you won’t prove the critics right.
You’re the one who must live with the consequences of your actions, not them – unless you have a spouse and/or children, but I’ll cover that in a moment. The truth is, you deserve to take action in service of your dream, and you ARE good enough… whether it works the way you expect it to or not.
Maybe you are afraid that if you act, despite other people’s warnings, and it doesn’t work out, that you proved them right. But very few successful people made it on the first try, and their setbacks didn’t prove anything.
It takes time. It takes action. If those that had come before you had seen their challenges as proof that other people were right about them, they wouldn’t be the success we now know them to be.
Instead, they understood that their life was their journey, and they didn’t need to make their journey look how others thought it should look. And even when it looked like their doubters’ predictions were accurate, they wouldn’t allow that one low point to define them.
People are successful because they understand that by simply staying on the path toward their dream, they are already succeeding.
But what if people depend on your decisions?
When you have immediate family affected by everything you do, you still can’t let yourself be defined by their fears, but you can’t ignore them either.
So invite them to step into the realm of possibility with you. What dreams do they have that are bigger than their fears?
How will you becoming a Life Coach help them to create the lives they desire?
What dream can your whole family share, that will give all of you the hope, motivation and faith to overcome your old fears and patterns of belief, so you can build the future you want together?
How to set your coaching business up for success
One of the most effective ways to overcome fear and doubt, for both yourself and your family, is to have a proven system for making your coaching business a success.
Having helped hundreds of Life Coaches to build thriving practices, I’ve discovered that the coaches who experience the greatest success are the ones who use a tried and tested system that gets consistent, reliable results.
When you know that the methods you’re using have worked for many other people, you can proceed with confidence, knowing that you’re on the right track toward making a difference in the world and creating a great future for yourself and your family.
When I first started coaching, I didn’t know how to turn my wisdom into a successful business. As a result, I spent years struggling to attract clients, serve them effectively, and run the business side of my practice.
During the process of growing from a new coach to an internationally known expert who’s built a 7-figure business by helping thousands of people, I developed a powerful system for succeeding as a Life Coach. I wanted other coaches to have an easier start to their careers than I did, and I devoted my life to making that happen.
Today, my students create thriving practices in a fraction of the time that it took me, and their results are a testament to the importance of learning from those who came before us.
Whenever we want to build success in any area of life, having a mentor who’s already walked that path can make all the difference in the world. So if you choose to become a Life Coach, I invite you to seek a mentor and a system that have a proven record of getting results, so you can have confidence that you’re building your business the right way, on the first try.
Your children will thank you for it.
If you have children, they will someday be faced with a choice. Pursue the life they desire, or waste that life on things they don’t want to do, because they’re afraid to do otherwise.
Now is your chance to be a role model for them. Show them that it IS possible to create the life of their dreams, no matter what anybody else says about it.
