When you’re just starting out as a Life Coach, one of the biggest challenges is finding and enrolling your first few clients.
You aren’t well known, you have few or no testimonials, and you may not have much of a network of business contacts, either. So how do you start to build momentum and attract the right people?
Here are five ways for a new Life Coach to get clients and recognition:
1. Online marketing
Articles, your website, videos, webinars, social media, and coaching directories are all useful methods you can use to catch peoples’ attention while they’re surfing the web.
Make sure you’re clear about what you do, who you serve, what problems you solve and what benefits you create. Give your readers a good taste of your expertise, and make sure that they have a way to get in touch with you if they decide they want to sign up as a client.
If you want guidance for setting up your online marketing system, my team and I would love to help you with that; you can get in touch with us by filling out the form on the right.
2. Networking groups
Is there a business and/or coaching group in your area? Somewhere, where either your potential clients, or people who know or serve your potential clients, might gather?
Becoming a regular member in one of these groups is a way to put yourself at the top of peoples’ minds, so when they or somebody they know needs your services, they immediately know who to call.
3. Meet-up groups
Similar to networking groups, but often a lot less formal, Meetup.com is an online service that helps people with similar interests get together. Creating an account and joining groups are both free; the only people who pay are those who create and lead groups. See if there’s a gathering in your area that might contain potential clients, affiliates or joint venture partners and plan on attending.
If there isn’t one, go ahead and create one yourself – it doesn’t cost much, and this is a great way to stand out and establish yourself as a leader.
4. Through friends and family
Make sure the people around you know that you are a Life Coach. You never know who might be in touch with a person who needs you desperately.
Tell them you’re taking on new clients, and see if they know anyone who could use your services. Offer them a 30-minute free consultation, to see if you and this potential client are a good fit.
5. Guest speaking on webinars and tele-summits
Check the internet for upcoming webinars, tele-seminars and tele-summits that cater to your audience, and approach the host to see if they’d be interested in having you as a guest. Start the dialogue from a position of service – you’re here to offer value to their customers first, and to get exposure for yourself second.
There you have it: 5 places where a Life Coach can find eager, willing clients, even if you’re new and not well known. But obviously, this is only one piece of the puzzle.
Now you know where to find new clients. But do you know how to attract and serve them?
What I’ve given you in this post will help you find sources of potential clients. But in order to get their attention and inspire them to invest with you, you need to know what to say.
What should you write on your website, articles and Meet-up group page? What should you say in your networking events, and what should you talk about when you’re a guest speaker?
If you know the answers to these questions, congratulations! But if you aren’t certain yet, and you want to be able to put your best foot forward and get the biggest possible results from the time you spend working to attract more clients, I want to help.
I’ve turned my coaching practice into a multi-million-dollar business, and it’s my passion to show other Life Coaches how to do the same. If you want to get deep, personal guidance for finding potential clients, enrolling them, and serving them effectively without burning out, please fill out the form on the right, and my team will be in touch with you soon.
I can’t wait to hear from you!
